FINAL SESSION (12) (week 15) >> WRITING A BRIEF ESSAY

Now days learning english is a very important thing, every student should know the basics, all of this because of the globalization. Many text books are in English, so it make us better students to be able to read them in their original language. An not only in text books is important to learn this language, it is also important when it comes to socialize with people in different countries that are studiyng the same as we. So I agree on the statement English is very important.

Now, if I have to talk about my personal expierence, the is a different subject. I am an older student, and I have lost my learnig skills. In the past, I was really motivated to learn english, and I found out that you have to compromise with it, I took a few courses when I was younger and realise I did not have the necesary skills to learn it easily, I had to try really hard to learn just the basic things.

Later on, when I was working, I realise how important it was, but still, I was not good enough; eventhough my housband and kids are very good at speaking and learning this language. But that it is just not my case.

My experience in Unversity, this time, has been a little different from the one before, mainly because I am in a different time of my life, and I do thing differently now. For instance, I don't completely agree with the fact that English is an obligatory course, bacause I know it takes time in order to really learn, and we have a lot of different classes, and that leaves us with no time to dedicate to this subject. So, he end up going to the English class after a busy week and it is really hard to concentrate.

But, besides that, for me it has been a really good experience. If I have to be honest, it is hard for my going to the classes, but once I am there, it is entertaining and I have a nice time with my teacher and classmates. Still, I don't realley know what to do to make it easy to study. It is really hard for me, I have to consult different dictionaries to use words, and many times I make mistakes.

SESSION 9 (WEEK 12) >> IMPROVING YOUR FACULTY FACILITIES

The situation in my faculty is more complicated than I would like, because it doesn't have the minimal facilities for the students, specially in the restroom area, they are just awful, in quality and quantity, they are uncleaned, they only are clean in the morning, but if you dare to go in just after lunch time you will regret this desission, and besides that, they do not always have toillet paper, and if you want to wash your hands there is not soap available, don't even think of paper towels to dry your hands.

The computer lab is also low in quantity, there are not enough computers available for the number of students that want to use them, often we can't use it, because there are out of order, or if you want to print something, for sure the printer is out of paper.

The faculty only has one cafeteria and it is very expensive in comparason with the other cafeterias in the campus, and you don't have a lot of alternatives to choose from. In the end, we alway end up going to the other cafeterias and lose time in that.

I have nothing to say about the fotocopy system, I find it very good, because its an external service, because of that there are different options and they compete, so this ir very good for students because there are good prices.

The library is very small, and has not single study rooms, it isn't a quiet place as a library should be, but the virtual services are very good, we can make reservations of the books we want from our house, and we can also consult data base in other countries.

The first thing I would do to improve my faculy facilities is:

- With the toilles: Try to asing more ressources for maintence. They could consider a deal whith the toillet paper companies, for instance.

- With the computer lab: It can also be solved by increasing the amount of money the faculty is willing to invest in this service. The way I see it, it is the most important facility, because it is a very usefull tool of work for us students.
- with the fotocpies, as I sayd before I don't have anything agains it, I am very happy the way it works.
-with the library: I would only improove the phisical space in wich the library works, because it is very difficult to concentrate and it has no private space to do research. By being in a bigger building it would be much better, students woulg spend more time in the library and they would be better students.

POST 8>> THEMED POST: THE WORLD OF FILMS

I used to go a lot to the movies, every time my husband was in town we went out for a meal and a movie. But now things are different, we don't go as much as we used to, or as much as we would like. I would say that now day I go about once a month, or may be once every a couple of months.We have changed the movies for our own cinema afternoons, we rent DVDs and watch them with the children.I have to confess that they do all the work, I guess that is one of the advantage of having four kids.
If I have to pick one kind of movies I would definitely choose drama, I don't really know why, but I always and up enjoying that kind of movies, even my family likes to tease me with that, because I always pick all the dramas.
I don't really have a favorite film director, I like movies in general and I don't care who has directed it, but if I have to name one I would pick Stanley Kubric, I love his movies. I think his movies are well done, in his movies he doesn't always respect the rules, he creates his own, I think that is what makes his so good as a director.
The last movie I saw was The Brothers Bloom, I went last week to the movies, but I was really tired, so I fell asleep and could not enjoy the film. My husband could not believe that I was sleeping, and he got upset because afterward we could not comment much about the film.
This year I have not seen a lot of films in the movies, I watch them on television, but I really liked
If I have to think about the best movie I have ever seen, I would have to choose The Bridges of Madison Country, mainly because I love Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, it has a very nice story, a love story and good characters. I recommend this movie.I have seen it more than ten times and I always cry with it.

What would life like be like without sports
My favorite sports are oriental sports, because they not only developed physical habilities, they also need thinking about a plan to defeat the opponent . I practice Judo, long time ago, when I was young. In this case is not only need physicall conditions, you need planning strategies to play. But now I do not have much time to pravtice, and I haven´t physical condictions too. Now I usually practice Tai Chi at home, because I´m not have time to destínate to go to the gym, or another place that can play anything. Tai chi, needs a discipline, if you want mantent training
I´m a sport fanatic of tennis, I like to see important matches very much, grand slam and copa Davis, for instance. All my family like to see the games, and we like comment about it. And now, sometimes I see soccer games, because of my sun is very fanatic, he go to the stadium, see all futball programs on television and he have a suscription to the sporta magazines.

Sport s that I would like banned are wrestling, and box,becau they are extremely violent

I would´nt like life without sport because it is necesary for a good and healthy life, phisically and mentally.

SANTIAGO

What is Santiago like? What do you like about it? What are the most interesting places? What can you do in Stgo to have a good time?

Santiago is a beautiful city. The weather is 4 season set: winter, spring, summer and fall. Average are warm since 30º en summer to 8º in winter, generally rain only in winter. A tourist can visit the mountain and the see in a day, because there are short distance between them.

The city of Santiago has an intense cultural life. There are many art galleries and museums you can visit. Tourists can visit the city center: The Palacio de la Moneda, the Plaza de Armas, the cathedral, the Museo de Arte Pre-colombino and Casa Colorada are the most popular sites. Bellavista Neighborhood is popular with young people, especially at night, because there are many restaurants, art galleries and pubs there. During the day you must visit the Cerro San Cristobal, which implies catching a beautiful panoramic sight of the city, taking cable car rides, and touring around the zoo. You can also visit La Chascona, one of the houses where the poet Pablo Neruda lived with Delia del Carril.

Another possibility is to visit the vineyards. Concha y Toro which offer interesting wine tour and tastings of diferent kind of wine.

MUSIC

Music is not very important in my life, because y can spend a lot of time in silence, thinking about anything or just reflecting. Sometimes I listen orchested or classical music when I study, because it pacifies my spirit and I can concentrate when I need to study. In other context , for instance, friend meeting or family meeting I prefered to stay without music to talk about different interesting things.

When it comes to social life , parties for instance , I prefer dancing music, colombian, central american music in general because is more apropiated to dance, although I don't consider myself as a good dancer, I try to keep the rithym in order to spend a good time with my husband and friends.

I love ballet, but I never had aptitude to learn how to play music or to dance for that matter, if I had, I would have liked to play in chamber orchestra, in an important theatre with a big audience.

Even though I don't have music as an important thing during my regular routine, I enjoy going to concerts, music there makes me feel very good, it moves me and makes me be in touch with my emotions.

I can't imaginate life without music, although is not very important to my, but I am aware that in most of the fields of ordinary life is very important: movies, theatre, and because I am a great cinema and theatre fan, I enjoy music in that context.

POST 2. A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

I would like to go to China, because I think is a very different culture and I find it very interesting. It is the most populated country in the world; and the way they have developed differnt tecnologies that we still use, like the print and guns, also gun powder.

I know it is very far away, but I think is worth going there, I would like to see the great wall, and learn more about their history.

It has always come to my attention the fact that they, as a culture, don't know much about their own history, mainly because they don't have access to this information.

I also like the food, I think it will be nice to walk in a market and fell the scent, all the different smells and flavors you could find there.

But I would like to see the cities with locals, they are the best guides I belive, because they know all the good spots to visit, and also the turistic places.

I find very nice the fact that they use the bicycle to move around the city, I think is very healthy and also very ecologic.
